The Corsair-Lords are the highest caste of Nis Daksi. They are the
men who can trace their ancestry back to King Alric and
Violence, and thus claim to be part divine. All Corsair-Lords are
taken as children and inducted into the Armada. They are trained as sailors and
marines, taught arcane words of the First Language of Man,
and groomed to rule the waves. Through this process are born the most dangerous
warriors of Dinre. The Corsair-Lords view the defense of Nis Daksi and
the plunder of the Great Archipelago as their sacred duty, and they do both with
pleasure. They are renowned, above all, for their great warbows, and spend their
lives engaged in piracy away from home. For them, there is no greater honor than
death on the waves.
While the Corsair-Lords are away, Corsair-Ladies must rule in their place. The
society of Nis Daksi is dominated by women. They perform duties traditionally
reserved for men in the other societies of Dinre. All judges, lawyers,
magistrates, and clerks in Nis Daksi are women, because the number of
Corsair-Lords in the city at any moment is so few.
Unlanded Corsair-Lords & Ladies wear black as the symbol of their status.
