There are many forms of magic in Elthyra, but not all magic is
sorcery. “Sorcery” itself refers to categories of magic that are derived from
the intellectual creations of the Anthara: Language’s
tongues, Music’s songs, and Mathematics’ formulae are
all examples of sorceries, because they are arcane systems rather than
artifacts. The weapons crafted by Forge are not sorceries, because
they are not systems, but things. Forge’s techniques of craft, however, are
powerful sorcery indeed.
A sorcery can be learned and mastered by anyone with access to its
techniques–even mortals. This is what differentiates it from the inherent
creative magic of the gods and their children, which cannot be shared or
learned.
The term “sorcery” in Athin almost always refers to the
First Language of Man, or to the more esoteric
Aith Elthrenyn.
