Fear incarnate is goddess of not just cowardice, but of righteous and respectful
fear of one’s masters and betters, as well as fear of those things that are
truly dangerous. She is the twin sister of Courage; her own father
violated her as punishment for her neuroses, and from this incest she bore the
youngest, most terrible, and final god, Pain. She also bore
Avarice and Paranoia, via Commerce. Fear
and Courage work in tandem to create cowardice and bravery in all living things,
and she is usually depicted alongside her brother.
