When a consciousness inhabits a body made of the Domains, it
is imprinted permanently into those Domains’ spirits. This gives rise to the
soul. When Death did not exist and all beings lived forever, the soul
and body were one. Only with Death could the two be separated. Thus was the
Silent Kingdom built, to forever be the realm of creatures who have lived and
died. The bodiless souls living in the Silent Kingdom are said to be shades, the
echoes of the beings they once were in life.
