Slavery is commonplace throughout Dinre. Those captured in the
Armada’s raids are often clamped in bronze collars and returned to the city as
serfs, and many more slaves taken from elsewhere find their way to
Nis Daksi via trading. All children born to enslaved mothers are
considered slaves, and all children born to free mothers are free, regardless of
the father’s status.
