Slavery is commonplace throughout Dinre. Those captured in the
Armada’s raids are often clamped in bronze collars and returned to the city as
serfs, and many more slaves taken from elsewhere find their way to
Nis Daksi via trading. Children born to slaves are regarded as
Freedmen, regardless of the rank of the father.
